Wild Rift Tips for Starting Players

Riot Games Wild Rift will soon be launched for Android and iOS smartphones. It is the mobile version of the popular MOBA PC game, League of Legends. If you haven’t played the PC version before, but would like to start playing the game, you’re in the right place. We created these Wild Rift tips to help starting players know more about its gameplay.

This in-depth guide will teach you the ropes of Wild Rift and its core gameplay.

Learn the basics of the map.

Wild Rift features a map similar to League of Legends Summoner’s Rift on PC. It is made up of three areas: base, lanes, and jungle. There are also three lanes in the map called the top lane, mid lane (middle), and bot lane (bottom). In between the lanes lies the area called the jungle. On the other hand, the base is where your champions respawn and are where the Nexus lies.

Wild Rift Map

Nexus is the primary objective of the game. The team can only win once the opponent’s Nexus is destroyed. There are also heavy fortification towers called turrets. They are located in each lane and in front of the Nexus. These turrets attack enemies on sight and help champions defend the Nexus.

Familiarize yourself with each lane role.

Choosing your lane will determine your role in the game, so you must learn and memorize each lane role on the map.

Wild Rift Roles
  • Top Lane: Players who choose the top lane usually pick a tank or bruiser champion who can take damage and sustain the lane.
  • Mid Lane: The mid lane is usually reserved for mage champions that deal with ability power.
  • Bot Lane: The ADC champion and support champion are both found in the bot lane. The ADC or Attack Damage Carry champions have skill sets that excel in killing minions or executing major attacks in the late game. While Support champions help ADC to survive and carry in the early game. Their abilities also usually have decent crowd control to help them keep their teammates alive.
  • Jungle: There is a specific role for players who move freely across the map. They are called the jungler. It is one of the trickiest roles since they do not have an assigned lane. To sustain this role, the player should pick a champion with excellent mobility to support various lanes across the map.
Master one hero per role.

Now that you are familiar with each lane role. It’s time for you to pick a champion for each one. Practice these champions until you get the hang of their skills and gameplay. By doing so, you can grow as a versatile player who can adjust their role depending on your teammate’s chosen roles. This can be helpful, especially during ranked games.

Below is a list of recommended Wild Rift champions that you can choose from. Each champion is categorized based on their role:

Wild Rift Nexus

When playing Wild Rift, always remember to focus on your objective, and that is to destroy your opponent’s Nexus. Most players think that Wild Rift, along with other MOBA games, focuses on the champion statistics or KDA (killing/death/assist) score. But that is not exactly the case. By the end of the game, it is not the team with the most number of kills that wins, but the team that can destroy their opponent’s Nexus. Always keep that in mind.

Communicate with your teammate.

As an arena battle game, you need a strategy to win. This is why communication is important in this game. Similar to its PC version, Wild Rift will have a ping system so you can quickly communicate with your team to what is going on within your game. Using this can help a lot in preventing deaths.

Be nice to your teammates and work together. Teamwork is critical in any MOBA game.
