Techland finally reveals its upcoming DLC pack for its zombie-shooter game, Dying Light. The DLC pack is called Hellraid and will be released this summer. Its announcement came through a teased trailer that was uploaded in Dying Light’s official Youtube account.
The teaser trailer features a 35-second video which shows an abandoned hallway. A demonic arcade cabinet then appears from a black sinister smoke that seems to be an otherworldly portal. The screen of the arcade cabinet then displays the Dying Light logo along with a new subtitle that reads, “Hellraid.”
Techland later on confirmed in IGN.com that Hellraid is a paid DLC game mode for Dying Light. The DLC features a dark fantasy Hellraid world that has the Dying Light gameplay. The Hellraid DLC will be coming to PC, Xbox One, and PS4 sometime during this summer.
The developers in Techland seem to be big fans of the dark fantasy world of Hellraid, so it wasn’t that much of a surprise when the DLC was announced. In 2012, Techland actually said that they were working on a new project called Hellraid. However, a year later, the studio announced that they decided to put the project on hold.
According to the company, the Hellraid DLC and the project they once announced are the same thing. And that the company is not working on any other Hellraid projects as of the moment. Fans speculate that the Hellraid project was planned as a new title, but perhaps due to other circumstances, the studio decided to turn it into a DLC for Dying Light instead.
Dying Light is a FPS, horror-survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies. The player is tasked to roam the city which is devastated by a mysterious virus epidemic. To survive, the player should scavenge for supplies, and craft weapons, while facing hordes of flesh-eating monsters.
Going forward, Techland is still working on Dying Light 2, which is the sequel to the current game. Dying Light 2 was first revealed at E3 2018. It was later announced by Techland that the game would be delayed out of its Spring 2020 scheduled release window. No release date has been announced yet.
