Genshin Impact 1.3 Update Releases on February 3

Last Friday, Mihoyo released the trailer of Genshin Impact 1.3 Update. It is called “All That Glitters” and will be released on February 3, 2021. It will bring a new 5-star character, events, and prizes for players to enjoy. Here’s everything you need to know about Genshin Impact’s Update 1.3:

New 5 Star Character – Xiao, The Vigilant Yaksha

As we all know every update brings a new 5-star character in the game. And this time we will finally be able to pull out Xiao from the Intertwined Fate Wish. Xiao will receive its own banner on February 3. He will be sharing a featured banner with Keqing since there are no new 4-star characters in this update.

Here’s the official blurb on Xiao regarding the update:

“Weilding a polearm and the power of Anemo, Xiao is a fierce adeptus warrior whose elemental burst grants him increased damage at the cost of continuously draining his health. During the Lantern Rite, the Traveler will have the chance to accompany Xiao for a day in the life of a guardian of Liyue, offering a rare glimpse into his life of solitude over the past millennia.”

The Traveler and Paimon first met Xiao during Zhongli’s quest. He is one of Liyue’s adeptus, called as the “Conqueror of Demons,” and “Vigilant Yaksha.” If any mortal witnesses Xiao unleashing his true power, it is certain to be under the direct of circumstances — and they will be extremely  lucky if they survive the ordeal.

Free 4-Star Character Event

Stand By Me Event - Genshin Impact

Update 1.3 will not introduce any new 4-star character. Mihoyo is going to offer users a free 4-star character as part of the “Stand by Me” special event. All players who complete this special event can choose one 4-star character. Its roster include Xiangling, Xinyan, Beidou, Ningguang, Xingqiu, and Chongyun. This is the perfect time to get the 4-star character you want from the list. While if you’re already building one of these characters, then definitely aim for their constellation.

Lantern Rite Events

Genshin Impact - Lantern Rite

The highlight event of this update is the Lantern Rite, which is divided into a few stages. Completing these stages will give each player an event-specific currency to use in the event-specific shop. You can use this currency to exchange for Character Ascension fragments, Experience books, Mora, or the Dust of Azoth.

Theater Mechanicus

Another part of the Lantern Rite event is a new tower defense minigame. As seen in the trailer, in this minigame, the player can craft, place, and upgrade different towers with different elements and mechanics along a path.

Like any tower defense game, hordes of enemies will try to pass through your path and survive the attacks of the towers you built. The main objective for the player is to stop the enemies from reaching the end of the path by building the right towers at the right place. Not only that, the player will also be able to enter their chosen character in the field to clear out any choke points or to clear the enemies quickly.

Boosted Ley Line Overflow

THe new update will also boost the drops of Mora and Experience by x2 for the first collection. It means that players can spend 20 resin and get x2 of the usual Ley Line output on their first collection. This will be a significant boost for those who are grinding Experience Books and Mora to level up their characters, their talents, and weapons.

New Boss – Primo Geovishap

Update 1.3 will also introduce a new boss to the world of Genshin Impact. It is called the Primo Geovishap, which appears to be a massively powerful form of the Geovishap Hatchlings. But the Primo Geovishap are more annoying than their hatchling counterparts since they can shift between different elements.

More details will come about this boss mechanics, but with the said abilities the Primo Geovishap have, it will certainly change how players set up their party. The Primo Geovishap can be unlocked through an investigation mission which will pay players with some Mora and Primogems.
