Activision officially confirms that Season 2 of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War and Warzone is coming this February 25. The video game publisher also presented an outline of the game’s major additions including a brand new Zombies experience.
Season 2 will include the following:
- New Zombies: Outbreak experience
- Four new Operators
- Six new weapons
- New multiplayer maps
New Zombies: Outbreak Experience
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone’s new Zombies Experience presents the next chapter of the Dark Aether story. Players will travel deep into Russia in the new Outbreak adventure. Below is the description of the new Zombies Experience:
“As the Requiem continues to fall behind in the arms race against Omega Group, various regions in the Ural Mountains have become Dark Aether outbreak sites. With new opportunities to research the Dark Aether and advance Requiem’s agenda, it’s up to you and three fellow agents to complete the deadly experiments that few have survived.”
New Zombies: Outbreak Experience Features
The game’s developer Treyarch promises new enemies, objectives, rewards, and intel with the new large-scale zombie experience. It will also come with missions including tracking down enemies via a satellite tracker. Players will also experience escorting a Rover to find dimensional portals and more. All of these needs to be completed before Exfil, or players can also choose to enter a Dark Aether portal to a new region to get more rewards. Activision promises to reveal more details on the Zombies Outbreak in the coming days.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 2 – New Maps
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 2 will introduce new multiplayer maps which includes the following:
- 6v6 Apocalypse map
- the multi-team Golova
- the 2v2 and 3v3 Mansion
- the 6v6 Miami Strike
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 2 – New Multiplayer Modes
Aside from the new maps, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 2 will bring new multiplayer modes to the game. These modes include the following:
- Gun Game Mode – a returning free-for-all mode.
- Stockpile – a 6v6 game mode which mixes the elements of Kill Confirmed and Hardpoint
- Hardpoint – a multi-team returning mode which Activision promises to be the biggest version of Hardpoint yet.
Call of Duty Warzone
Warzone will also introduce new interesting points to the game. This includes two new game modes called Exfiltration and Rebirth Island Resurgence Extreme.
- During an Exfiltration Battle Royale, a portable radio crackles into life, coming online somewhere in Verdansk. The Operator who secures this radio and holds onto it for a sufficient period of time automatically wins the game for them.
- The high-octane, respawn-enabled Resurgence mode on Rebirth Island will be taken to the extreme during Season Two, upping the max player count in the limited-time Rebirth Island Resurgence Extreme mode. Up to 90 players can drop onto Rebirth Island for an incredibly frenetic fight for supremacy, as they look to eliminate every last member of enemy squads to prevent them from getting a second, third, or even forth chance at revenge.
Season 2 Release Date
Black Ops Cold War Season 2 will start rolling updates on February 23, while Warzone will be updated on February 24, between 9 and 11 pm PT. All content is expected to be available starting on February 24. Black Ops Cold War is one of the best-selling games in U.S. history after it was released last year.
