Capcom announced that five new characters will be added in Street Fighter 5 as part of the upcoming Season 5 update. The new characters in Streetfighters include Dan, Rose, Alpha, Oro, and Akira Kazama — with the fifth character remaining a mystery.
Street Fighter 5 – Season 5 New Characters DLC
Dan Hibiki
Dan Hibiki is a long-time Street Fighter playable character which last appeared in Street Fighter 4. His fighting style is Saikyo Style. The Saikyo Style is a mixed fighting style with Muay Thai elements and unprofessional Ansatsuken techniques.
Rose
Rose is a playable character first introduced in Street Fighter Alpha. She is an Italian fortune-teller who wields the Soul Power. The Soul Power is an ability that allows the user to change his/her mental power into physical power. Aside from Rose, Menat also uses Soul Power.
Oro
Oro is a character who first appeared in Street Fighter III: New Generation. He is a 140-year-old Japanese hermit who has mastered the secrets of immortality. His fighting style is known as the Senjutsu, also known as the Mystic Arts or Sage Techniques. It is said that the technique is only used in the immortal mountain hermits of Taoist myth. And up to date, Oro is the only character in the game which uses this fighting style.
Akira Kazama
Akira Kazama is an original character from Capcom’s 3D fighting game, Rival Schools. As reported, she will make her debut in the mainline Street Fighter games starting with the fifth season of Street Fighter V.
Her fighting style is noted as the Bajiquan (Hakkyokuken), which features explosive and short-range power attacks. It is famous for its elbow and shoulder strikes.
Street Fighter 5 x Rival Schools
Akira Kazama’s debut in the Street Fighter series isn’t something new. The series is known for having other characters in the Capcom series crossover into it. However, Akira is the first character from Rival Schools to make an appearance in Street Fighter, aside from Sakura, who happens to be an original Street Fighter character.
As of now, there is no video game footage of Akira in Street Fighter 5, so we don’t have an idea if her fighting style. But according to Street Fighter 5 Director Takayuki Nakayama, the battles in the 3D fighting game Rival Schools have something unique about them. And that he also wants to incorporate that into Street Fighter 5.
Street Fighter 5 – Season 5 Road Map
Aside from the new characters, the developers also shared a Street Fighter 5 Season 5 Roadmap that contains the details of the future updates. According to it, Dan will release in Winter 2020 along with the Capcom Pro Tour 2021 state. There will also be an update that will change up the battle balance and add a new battle mechanic. It will then be followed by an update that will introduce Rose in the game by Spring 2021. Then there will be Oro and Akira in the Summer of 2021, which will end with the unannounced character’s release in Fall 2021.
