What are Artifacts?
Artifacts serve as equipment items to increase your characters’ stats. There are 5 artifact slots in Genshin Impact which includes: Flower of Life, Plume of Death, Sands of Eon, Goblet of Eonothem, and Circlet of Logos. Equipping a certain number of artifacts (Two-Pieces and Four-Pieces) within a set can activate special artifact set bonuses.
All artifacts have a main stat, along with up to 4 secondary stats also called as substats, which together, can greatly increase a character’s strength in combat. Certain artifact pieces namely the Flower of Life and Plume of Death, have a fixed main stat, while the other pieces can roll for more than one type of main stat.
Players can store a maximum of 1,000 Artifacts in their Inventory at a time.

Artifacts – Stat Breakdown
Artifacts have three primary ways of boosting your character’s strength, which goes as follow:
- Main Stat – Gives a large bonus to one stat.
- Secondary Stat – Gives a smaller bonus to one (or more) stats.
- Set Bonus – Gives a specific bonus depending on the set.
Artifact Main Stats
Each artifact has one main stat, determined by the artifact’s type/slot. Its starting value is determined by the artifact’s rarity.

Artifact Sub Stats
Aside from the Main stat, each artifact can have up to sub-stats; the starting number is based on its rarity. Do note that an artifact’s sub-stats cannot be the same as the main stat. It can also not have duplicate sub-stats.
These are the possible sub stats your artifacts can have upon leveling them up:
- Attack
- Defense
- HP
- Critical Rate
- Critical Damage
- Element Mastery
- Energy Recharge
Attack, HP, and Defense may come in flat value and % value.
Enhancing Artifacts
Enhancing artifacts requires other artifacts to be used as fodder. This means the more Artifacts you collect, the more you’ll be able to upgrade your existing ones. Upon enhancing an artifact, there is a small chance that the artifact will receive ×2 to x5 the normal amount of EXP. You will also randomly get additional secondary stat buffs or substats when upgrading your artifacts.
When consuming an enhanced artifact, in addition to the Base EXP granted, 80% of the EXP used for its upgrades will be recovered at no extra Mora.
Destroying Artifacts
1-star to 3-star artifacts can also be destroyed in exchange for Mora. However, the artifacts have to be at Level 0 within 0 EXP. The amount of Mora the player can get ranges from 480 to 1260.
4-star to 5-star artifacts cannot be destroyed at all.
