Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion will be available at $60 for PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated that the games scheduled to be released this holiday are still open for a price increase.
At first, Guillemot said they plan to come with the same price as the previous gen consoles. However, before the Q1 2020-21 earnings call ended, he reiterated the price to $60.
However, he didn’t commit to saying that all future next-gen games would be priced at $60.
“We said earlier that for the $60 price, we are concentrating on the Christmas releases,” Guillemot confirmed. “And those games will launch at $60.”
This move is different from 2K’s decision to make NBA 2K21 available at $70 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
This obviously opposed the $60 price tag on current-gen systems Ubisoft has for their upcoming holiday-release games.
Ubisoft also reported their decision to implement significant changes to the company. This after a series of misconduct allegations against some of their employees.
Ubisoft Q1 Earnings
During the company’s Q1 2020-21 earnings call, Ubisoft reported that they recorded the first quarter with a significantly higher-than-expected performance. According to them, it was caused by the depth of the Group’s catalog, quality of its Live services, and the company’s historically high engagement levels.
Ubisoft recorded total net bookings of $474 million in their first quarter, exceeding their target of around $388 million.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
AC Valhalla will be available on November 17, 2020, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It will be launch for next-gen consoles, Xbox Series X and PS5, but Ubisoft hasn’t revealed any details yet. They confirmed those players who will buy the game for PS4 and Xbox One will get a free upgrade for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
Watch Dogs Legion
